As I write this post, tears are streaming down my face. This wonderful group of people, staff, volunteers, rescues, fosters, vets and groomers take such good care of these forlorn dogs and pups. Their lives improved once impounded. The community donated for their vetting, spaying or neutering and sometimes veterinary care. But, even with the additional runs, we are out of space. If at least 5 or 6 dogs are not rescued tomorrow, the officers will be forced to euthanize some pretty terrific dogs. There is not one aggressive or nasty dog in the bunch. Actually, all but one are heartworm negative. Call 706 613-3540 to adopt, rescue or offer to be a foster. Rescues would love to take the dogs but do not have enough foster homes.

All dogs posted are heart worm negative except Journey, who had a hard life as a puppy mill who made money for her owner only to be dumped.

Samantha 43922 and Sierra 43923 are now spayed, hw negative and fully vetted. These 2 year old beauties are out of time. Samantha looks like an Anatolian Shepherd mix while Sierra looks like a sleek hound mix. Both sisters are great once in the interactions pens playing, running and just being happy. Although in a perfect world, they would be adopted together but separately is fine and better than the alternative.

Binx 43924 is a happy go lucky black (one strike against him) Am Staff pup around 6 or so months old. He is a hefty pup at 45 pounds. He is our therapy dog for frightened and shut down new arrivals. He shows them how much fun it is to run along the fences of the interaction pens. Binx is just wonderful at bringing hope to the downtrodden dogs. He loves to play and that is what makes him so good at convincing the scared dogs to come out of their shell. He is hw negative too!

Snickers 43925 is one sweet boy. He arrived with his skin raw and almost hairless. Thanks to the community's donations to the medical fund, Snickers medical needs were met and he is almost perfect. The demodex is not contagious and has cleared up. He is a happy and sweet small Lab mix. At 31 pounds, he could afford to put on a few pounds. We love his sweet face and temperament. Snickers is only about a year old, if that.

Journey 43929 is a senior dog who arrived in pain and could barely move. Thanks to the community's compassion and donations to Athenspets, she was evaluated by a local veterinarian. Her arthritis is being treated with anti inflammatories as well as nutritional supplements. She is up and about and very happy to be able to play. She is heart worm positive though. The medical fund will help with her heartworm treatment.

Bruce 43934 is a happy 50 pound boy who loves to play. He will play with people and dogs and is good with kids but not cats. He is house trained as well. He smiles all day long and I often wonder if he smiles in his sleep.I posted his serious as well as his happy photos.

Tiger 44050 arrived skinny with protruding bones and frightened. It did not take him long to realize he was in a safe place where people loved him, fed him and played with him. No one would hurt him anymore. He is neutered, vetted and ready for a new forever loving home. He plays and is gentle as well as polite.Get to know Tiger and you will love how special he is.

Be Be 44067 is already micro chipped, vetted and spayed. She is a 40 pound Cattle dog mix with big ears, a big smile and a big heart to match. She is house trained too! Be Be loves to play and cuddle, your choice. At a year old, she has lots of love to give.

Champ 44072 is neutered, vetted and full of love and affection. He is happy and playful. I am surprised his wagging tail has not fallen off. He has a smiley face that cannot be beat.He is a year old and 45 pounds and would make a great family pet.

Rex 44080 is a handsome Black Lab mix with a plush and shiny coat. He loves to take walks. Take out a leash and he politely sits so you can put the leash on him and he will walk like a gentleman. If you walk for fun or health reasons, Rex is your boy. He is a year old, happy and 45 pounds.

Faith 44100 is barely there at 34 pounds. She was bred for four years and now her life may end at animal control because there are no open runs. It breaks my heart and make my eyes swell with tears as I look at her beautiful face and hope that someone will come to her aid and give her a chance to know what it is like to be loved as well as give love (which she readily gives). She has a soft grey coat that fits her calm temperament.

Chuck aka Charles 44103 is a neutered, happy, full of fun and affectionate 2 year old dog. He weighs 60 pounds and it is all love!! He loves to play, is super friendly and as you can see in photo #1, a clown who likes to make you laugh. He does not like to smile alone. Loves everyone and other dogs.

Daisy 44110 is a Dalmation mix pup around a year old. She is spayed and has all her vaccinations too. Daisy is a beauty at 29 pounds. She has a blue and a brown eye, a big smile for everyone and is always ready to play. She is sweet, affectionate and bonds easily with you.

Atticus 44112 is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. Although he weighs a whopping 80 pounds, he is polite, gentle and so very well mannered. Atticus, as you can see, if very handsome. His long legs allow him to leap like an antelope or dear. He is good with kids and dogs but not cats. Atticus is easy going and always wears a smile.

Brothers Clem 44113 and Clyde aka Mr Hugs 44114 appear to be Lab Basset mixes also known as the designer dog, Bassador. While Clem looks more like a Basset, his brother Clyde looks more like a Lab. Both are calm, quiet, polite, playful and easygoing dogs. They are a year old 40 or so pounds, with Clem being a bit heavier than Clyde. They are sweet as honey and can be adopted or rescued together or separately if it means they will live.

Belle 44116 is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. She is also micro chipped. She is 35 pounds loves everyone even cats!
She has a beautiful white face that looks like the moon, a soft auburn/sienna plush coat and  is happiest when she is with you.

Tater 44122 is emaciated at 34 pounds but that does not stop him from loving everyone and enjoying life. He is so darned happy that I wish we could market whatever makes him so wonderful and friendly. A couple found him on the side of the road, put him in their car and fed him potatoes because he looked so hungry. So, that is how Tater got his name. He knows his name and responds with kisses. Will Tater live long enough to put on the 15 or 20 pounds he needs? Only you can help make our dream come true. He is unaware that his life may end at the pound. BTW, he loves belly rubs.

Bean 44133 is listed as a Boxer mix but at 6 months old and 12 pounds, we believe he is a Whippet mix. He is sleek as well as reserved with strangers. Once he knows and trusts you, he is your bestest friend.
