Oh oh we got in trouble..

Vaccinations are coming up on us and we have several going under the needle... we needed to raise some cash specifically towards getting these vaccinations... so we listed on eBay some Diatomaceous Earth and got more than we expected.

Yes there was a bid placed on the bag and a nice note to follow that informed us that we were in violation of laws and could be in serious trouble. Not cool at all!

We are a honest rescue, we are honest people, we would never do anything intentionally to infringe on anyone's intellectual or tangible property. We wrote back and apologized, and vowed to correct the bag toppers. The gentleman wrote back and commended us on our attempts to fund our rescue and offered some valuable tips and insights into the 'pet food' industry.

Working to get everything corrected and be completely legal in the business of selling pet food stuffs, seeing as how three items we carry could be considered 'pet food', this is something that needs to be addressed.

Pulling the label on the bag purchased and pulled the Diatomaceous Earth from the store. Need to find out a bit more information on how I can lawfully label this product, the gentleman said that I can sell it with their label - I just can't add my own logo to the packaging. I'm not sure I want to go that route or just market it generically under the Beltania Logo.

From Rescue to Sanctuary

When the decision was made to become a rescue, a vision of placing animals in homes is what was seen. Taking in animals that had 'issues' that could be helped with - maybe the dog who was never taught to be a companion animal, or the feral kittens needing to know that all humans weren't the enemy.

Very sound ideas, still a work in progress, oh all the animals have a good home - they still share that home with us. We still have the bulldog that was a total basket case upon crossing our threshold a few months back - yea - a few... there are the orphaned feral kittens taken in that were just taken off the websites because they are no longer available for adoption out of this home - long story - look for it one day...

The kittens will be trained for Therapy Animal work, as everyone here has at least one job to perform, jobs give the brain something to do and usually the rest of the body must follow along and that keeps us all focused, on track, and out of trouble.

The feed bill keeps getting bigger every day as the kittens grow into juveniles and vaccinations are right around the corner. All this adds up and we are out of space and low on funds. Still have two animals that are available to go to their forever homes, an older cat - Lil' Man, who just would rather not have so many siblings and our beloved Paca who patiently waits for that special someone to let her smile forever stay.

We have taken the first huge step in securing our own property and within months should be in a new home that will give us some room to breath and move around. This is a long awaited goal being realized, once the property is secure the non profit status will be filed.

Have a solid name for our organization:

Gargoyles Animal Rescue & Dragon Sanctuary

G._A.R.D.S.

All that is missing is 'U'!

The 'Guards' acronym works well with our desire to have Brinks trucks as our transport vehicles - for several reasons:

1). To drive home the idea that the animals - themselves are what has value - not any monetary value placed upon them by how much profit can be made off of them. The Brinks truck is synonymous with transporting valuable items\lives.

2). As a vehicle the Brinks vehicle is a classic style that incorporates a well built design with quality mechanisms that provide the room and equipment to accommodate animal transporting efforts effectively and comfortably. Thus guarding our valuable cargo.

3). The Brinks truck looks 'tough', is usually occupied by security guards, and will carry our 'Rosie the Riveter' inspired gargoyle logo.

The 'Guards' acronym works well for we feel as if we are in fact guarding these animals from dangers seen and unseen. We feel a sense of 'duty' in our mission, like a 'leave no man behind', well this is a 'leave no animal behind' mindset.

It was always part of the plan to become a sanctuary, it has just been put into name sooner than anticipated. Not a bad thing at all, means there will only be the one filing for status. Looking into the different categories of non profits to see what works best for us.

Wish us well as we carry on with trying our best to make this world a better place for the animals, a better place for all of us.

Long live Gaia!
