Change of Address

This last month of 2014 has brought our whole rescue operation into the home of some of the best human friends a person could have. Over the past two - three years our circumstances have spiraled down into a place that was very dark and scary; a failed relationship, transportation issues and a complete withdraw of financial earning capabilities has taken its toll. This is where we start over and build anew from scratch. Thankful to all who have/are helping - keep it coming - we aren't in place yet - these animals are constantly reminding me that feeding them isn't cheap, even if we go down a couple of notches in our standard of quality -  it still costs money (that commodity we don't usually put an emphasis on).

We are asking for donations at this time, to help with feeding, caring for our charges. If you find yourself in a decent place right now - financially would you please consider sharing a bit of the wealth with your fellow earthlings under the care of Gargoyles Animal Rescue.

The animals are doing well and have settled into our new living arrangements like pros. Not many people would open their home and heart to a person caring for 9 animals (3 dogs/6 cats). Our hosts have shown us that love is the most powerful emotion in the world, it can move mountains.

As the dog food kibbles... or around the corner are hairballs...

Just like a soap opera, the drama that has been my life for the past couple of years is over. We step off the cliff onto a new chapter (more like series), of the Writings that we call Gargoyles Animal Rescue. Which turns out to not so much be the dwelling that we are presiding in, but more so the woman behind the good works for animals.

Coming up on the 26th of this month (Friday), will be one year since the fire that destroyed so many items that I thought was the rescue - the nice plush pet beds, the selections of collars, leashes, and harnesses for the animals to wear, not to mention their blankets, scratching posts and other misc. items I thought made the rescue what it is.

I was wrong in that assumption, completely. It turns out, it wasn't at all; any one tangible thing or another, it was my drive, my desire to protect these animals and treat them like I believe in my heart all animals should be treated - like family, like they are a part of a multi-species family and their lives, their state of well being mattered.

Not wanting to add fuel to a burned out fire - I will not go into the details of the partnership that was crumbling for a couple of years before worse came to worse and he got on a bus back to Texas. I was awarded all of our combined worldly possessions, and the 9 beating hearts that were our responsibility.

In desperation I reached out to my family and my friends that are just like family. Between my mother, my sister, my cousin, some excellent friends, and people I don't even know kicked in their help and/or money. My best friend of over 30 years and her amazing family opened their hearts and their home to the 9 animals and me - not many people would be so kind.

The state of affairs was grim for us in South Carolina - no vehicle, no meds, no money, running out of groceries, electricity set to be turned off, same with water, and the rent hadn't been paid in around 6 months - yep - things were pretty rough up there. When I get to Georgia looking much like a modern day Ellie Mae (okay - maybe more like Granny), my blood pressure was peaking and I was in a bad way. My friend didn't know that I was so close to stroking or having a heart attack - until my weakness got the better of me and I tripped over a vine in her back yard and fileted my shin open on a broken bottle and had to be rushed to the ER for stitches. There; my blood pressure freaked everybody out and they made me stay a whole hour trying to bring it down, but I was prescribed my blood pressure meds and am in the process of bringing my health back around.

These animals and me have stayed in motel rooms not much bigger than where we are bunking now - but we have never been surrounded by any greater love. The love of the people right up beside us to the people who helped get us here, that continue to help us. So much love!

The gang is amazing, they are on their best behaviors and I am very proud of them for that.  In truth Paca has scared half of the family with her "chip chip yap", thing she does and the whole prancing pony bit that is uniquely hers. I can not see her with those eyes anymore - where I wondered just exactly what she would do under certain circumstances. I know what she will do, and what she won't do. I have no fear of her trying to hurt anyone here in this house, and the only injury would be thru her goofy ways. But I will not put anyone at ill ease in regards to my beloveds.

Ms Georgia has a suitor for adoption, and this is being considered - I will do what is best for her, not me, not anyone else - but what is the best option for her, if that is a new daddy she would be thrilled for she loves men. She has some separation issues from the only daddy she knew for 8 years, she needs time to grieve the loss of his presence in her world. Not being ugly - being factual, being honest, and straight forward - only way I know how to be, only way one should be.

Walking around with high blood pressure is dangerous!
