New Gig under the Big Top!

The only circus I would even address is my own animal menagerie parading through my best friend's dinning room to the back door. I request/command for the crew to "walk" through, but not JRT Georgia, in her defense she does have the shortest legs of the crew and is usually on double time trying to stay two steps ahead of everyone else.

Had a yard sale today, Lisa and I put the canopy up and set the tables and boy do we have some stuff to sale, did a fair amount, not complaining, will be setting up again - maybe not next weekend but the one after that. A couple of ladies were very interested in the gemstones for jewelry and the the bulk of our earn today was due to the gemstones. Lisa sold one of her bought necklace, that was a good turn for her - she deserved that. What that says is there is another person out there that likes the same things I like, 'I may be on to something here'.  It is a form of confirmation that one is doing something right.

Will be looking for venues near for more sales. I love our canopy! Left the tables out there so we can play around with how we would like to set up - we get to play dress up with a canopy - so cool. Look forward to the day I'm setting up a display of remade model horses. So looking forward to that! Stepping away from making jewelry, have all of those items going up for sale. I will give Lisa whatever she wants and bid my addiction farewell - as Lisa has definitely caught it. The only thing I will be keeping are my tools and the sterling silver findings, wire and small gemstones for model horse jewelry - the rest is going up for sale. Been working on that collection for five years - can you imagine how many gemstones I have - yea, no - even more!

Doing What It Takes

The past two weekends we have been set up to sell our wares trying to raise $ moolah for this rescue. Today it was most needed in order to feed the troupe.
Mission accomplished : )

Last Saturday we set up booth at the Midway Festival, unfortunately we were rained out within an hour with only one $2.00 sale to line our wallet.

Then on Sunday May 3rd we set up at the corner of Limerick @ Hwy 17 and sold most all of our plants, some Diatomaceous Earth and met some interesting people. Main thing is that we made enough capital to purchase some chicken for the dogs and tuna for the cats. Left with IGA & Dollar General choices, it really wasn't rocket science to figure we were better with human grade food.

**Most every bag of carnivore food in those stores starts with ground yellow corn - 1. our charges are carnivores, 2. even if our charges were herbivores the feeding of yellow corn is seriously wrong. Carnivores need meat with a slight side of veggies. If you are trying to feed your carnivores a more correct diet by means of their natural 'wild' menu basically the only vegetable matter these carnivores would normally partake of was in the stomachs of the animal they were dinning upon - think about it.**

***Corn should be fed to humans and animals as a desert, not a side dish or definitely not a main course. Corn causes the consumer to 'heat-up', due to its high content of sugar. Most of the corn found in our grocery stores come from Monsanto stock and that is Genetically Modified Organisms - not cool, not cool at all.***

Several people showed an interest in Paca (from her photos), she is a darn good looking Bulldog if I do say so myself. (maybe just a bit bias). Today we put in 2 hours in the hot Georgia Sun to earn $30.00 and that took care of immediate needs and now have enough food to last till later on in the week. Hopefully something else will turn up an opportunity for us to make a little more cash. We don't give up, we just bow our heads and thank the heavens above for all that we have and in our faith more always presents itself to us.
We are blessed to have amazing people backing our efforts - thank you (if you are one of them present/past/or future).

Organic Farmers (Certified) Numbers Are Growing - Fantastic!

WASHINGTON, April 15, 2015 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today that the organic industry continues to show remarkable growth domestically and globally, with 19,474 certified organic operations in the United States and a total of 27,814 certified organic operations around the world.

According to data released by the Agricultural Marketing Service's (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP), the number of domestic certified organic operations increased by more than 5 percent over the last year. Since the count began in 2002, the number of domestic organic operations has increased by over 250 percent. The certified operations list is available at apps.ams.usda.gov/nop.

"As demand for organic products continues to soar, more and more producers are entering the organic market," said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. "USDA tools and resources have created opportunities for organic farmers and more options for organic consumers. Growing demand for organic goods can be especially helpful to smaller family operations. The more diverse type of operations and the more growing market sectors we have in American agriculture, the better off our country's rural economy will be."

USDA is committed to connecting organic farmers and businesses with resources to ensure the continued growth of the organic industry. Along with programs to support conservation, provide access to loans and grants, fund organic research and education, and integrated pest management, USDA administers organic certification cost share programs to offset the costs of organic certification for U.S. producers and handlers nationwide.

Now, USDA is using funding from the 2014 Farm Bill to develop the Organic Integrity Database, a modernized certified organic operations database that will provide accurate information about all certified operations that is updated on a regular basis. The modernized system will allow anyone to confirm organic certification status using the online tool, support market research and supply chain connections, allow international verification of operator status to streamline import and export certificates, and establish technology connections with certifiers to provide more accurate and timely data. The initial launch is planned for September 2015.
