You may know...

That Gargoyles Animal Rescue is ran mostly by the efforts of Sheila Shafer-Roberson, and that she has fell upon hard times and is living with her best friend & family - Lisa S. In G.A.R. there are 9 animals, 3 female dogs and 6 cats (4 males, 2 females/Queens). All animals and Sheila sleep in one room of Lisa's house. Every morning all the animals are let outside to do their 'business', the cats stay out, the dogs come back in. All but 1 cat go outside by the back door, Phoebe Peppercorn goes out the front door as she is the only one allowed to be out front with the resident queen - Bella, a feral rescue that owns Lisa and her husband's heart. (She is my best friend after all so we do share characteristics).

I've been telling Lisa that her cat has been very curious about my room, she also loves the fact that I am so 'open' for conversations with her species. She will come to my closed door and meow for me, I always check on her to see what she needs, she usually asks for food, sometimes to be let out, or sometimes just to talk to someone who listens to her and understands her.

She has even came across the threshold into my room. When I tell Lisa about this, I feel as if she is saying "sure she is", but that she doesn't believe me. Well you can't dismiss photographs, now can you. Bella knows the morning routine for my animals, she is a very receptive to all that transpires in her home. Yesterday she boldly came into my room following me just a talking her head off. If I tune in I can get the gist of her conversation and communicate back. I wasn't far from dreamland and my head was a bit fuzzy so I wasn't carrying on a conversation with her and just came in my room leaving the door open because to close it would of been rude and I try very hard to not ever be rude to anyone. When I made it to my desk I turned around and seen her by the water bowls, so I grabbed up my phone/camera and started taking pix. When I showed these pictures to my friend she went through them and said "what am I suppose to be noticing"? I said "that your looking at your cat", she said "Oh"!

At the water bowls for all animals,
she is in between where Georgia & Paca slept.

Preparing to jump on my bed, right where
I had been laying just moments earlier.

On my bed, she must feel comfortable with my energy,
that spot is highly infused with not only my smell,
but all the animals who snuggle in as I sleep.

She is on a feeding station for the cats, nearing
beds of several cats but mainly the
queen she spends time with in the front yard.
Not exactly sure what to make of all of this, she is a queen but she is young and not far from her feral days. She isn't mean in her claiming of space in and around her home. I am going with the theory of curiosity, I've often picked up from her that she believes I have a secret portal in my room >in her mind > all the animals and myself go on amazing adventures throughout the night and by gosh she wants to see this damn portal.

Beltania and Adorable sitting in a tree...

K-i-s-s-i-n-g
     First comes Love...

They love each other, they know they do they are just playing sly. Grooming each other has been witnessed, Adorable will follow Belle all over the room and property, he will also run off any other suitors. Yes he is neutered - it goes beyond a sexual drive, it is a love bond.

Both of them are in pain right now. Beltania suffers from flea bite dermatitis in a horrible way and Adorable has something very wrong with his ears that can't be healed w/out medical attention.

Beltania takes medicine that gives her some relief but if you could feel her skin and all the scabs from her constantly scratching are horrible. She has a look of misery in her eyes.

Her meds are getting very low, she does have 2 refills left - just need to acquire the funds to do so with.

The extent of damage in his ears warranted the dog formula Pyrethrin medicine. The cat formula was 0.05 mg of drug vs this dog formula 0.06 mg Pyrethrin. The cat formula gave direction at 5 drops per ear for a couple of days and then repeat if not cleared. The dog formula calls for 5 drops as well, Adorable is getting 2 drops twice a day for 3 days then a rest only applying mineral oil in an attempted to suffocate mites and soothe irritation. It doesn't help matters that he will dust himself outside very well and his ears are black inside upon checking them. Some of what is seen on the Q-tip is dirt (or rather mud sludge), but the red tint there - that is from the mites biting the insides of his ears plus him digging at them.

((In the good news department; a lawyer has been hired for final appeal on disability, according to the lawyer, we have an excellent case) ((big smile))

Please, if you can afford a dollar or two we would greatly appreciate it and ask that you share our plight with your friends and associates. Gargoyles Animal Rescue and Dragon Sanctuary is a godsend for the animals, and will be a force to be reckoned with in the very near future!

Beltania needs a shot, she received one earlier this year - it lasted two months and cost like $12.00, she needs that - which entails an office visit for the Rx shot, good food, and a refill of her Buspirone. Flea preventative is a must for her.

Adorable needs medical attention, he needs a vet to diagnose his ears and prescribe some medicine that will aid in destroying what ever is attacking his poor ears. He is already sounding like he is deaf, you know how that sounds - like someone who can't hear their own voice.

How to save a buck or 2

When I had my own horse boarded at a local stable or on my own land I used to get frustrated with people trying to imply that I was associated with horses because of a love of wealth, or trying to live beyond my means. Horses were in my blood, still are just many years away from my beloved beasts being my life line. Some 'horse people' make it all work by the seat of their pants. Its not easy, especially when illness or injury present themselves on a particular bad month of income. What the hell are you going to do? Rob Peter to pay Paul for that bale of hay just so you can call out the vet and hope he doesn't deposit that check until later on in the week, month, etc.

Rode out with my friend for some quality horse time, there is a feller out there that has my interest so I'm always ready to accompany her. Didn't get to spend the time grooming as planned, but instead took care of what needed taken care of and in the process saving a buck or two. Vet visit, medicine, etc can add up fast and most definitely drain a bank account - quick like.

Love that my friend took care of her friend without missing a beat. Kudos Lisa!

Beltania's Vet Visit

April 2, 2015 2:00 p.m. Richmond Hill Animal Hospital  Richmond Hill, GA

Beltania met the staff at Richmond Hill Animal Hospital, some were honored, some were terrified.
We are thankful that Beltania has been witnessed by a licensed medical doctor and treated thru and under his expert wisdom. We are eternally grateful to those who help us in the financial department, without you none of this would of been possible - thank you very much!
Kind and compassionate

Doc and Beltania did not hit it off well.

Doc was a bit hesitant on handling Beltania

I informed that her bark was way worse than her bite.

He said "he'd rather not find out".

The last one was a doozie!

We arrived home to goodies waiting on the porch.

So thankful, so very thankful!

We do have a foundation fund with the remainder of Beltania's 'Go Fund Me' account and are applying that to the Oliver's goal. Going to get each animal squared away - by gosh - one animal at a time.
