Dogs didn't ask to be here

Shelter is filling up - a mixture of dog this week - this is crazy

Mom with 2 puppies - $100 sponsorship on this family

If dogs are there more than a week - the shelter gets nervous and wants to start killing them.

We all know that any dog at this facility could be euthanized at any time - as it has happened in the past - so we are trying to get everyone  moved  out asap.

Owner surrenders can be euthanized at any time - so we are really trying hard to get them out.

Poor Feral Canines now on DEATH row!!

Dear Rescue Friends: 

Imagine the fear these feral doggies are enduring; they were captured in traps in the woods and now find themselves on shelter Death Row, totally terrified and with little hope. You see them cowering in fear on cold bare concrete … we’ve taken in ferals and they become wonderful, loving, adoptable doggies, yet unfortunately we are beyond full with several extensive medical dogs, so these babies need a rescue angel to save their lives – you? 

Each has $100 sponsorship, contact is the huge-hearted Charli Stinson 770.584.3655 cstinson@pstel.net and Charlie states “we have pull set up for out of state rescues, we have low cost vetting and low cost boarding available to rescues if needed. We can help with some short transport.” They are described as a Pointer type and a Jack Russell Terrier. Thank you for considering these two nameless, terrified girls, for sharing, for offering sponsorship, and hopefully for being the angel they need to live.

 (I've had a little experience with feral dogs and the absolutely can be tamed and trained)

Farewell to Ole' Spot, Dub, or Jake

From the mid 80's and into the mid 90's I was a backyard breeder, nothing more than a person wanting to play some sort of master or ruler and match the union by the bloodlines and rarely upon the temperament.  Maybe one of the reasons I work so hard for the animals is because I at one time was a contributing factor to the act of bringing more animals into an overpopulation problem.

I protested from my highest soap box, my dogs were sound companion animals and I had every right to bring as many into the world as I could afford to feed/vet them. I didn't look to see the whole bush of the situation, I was only focused on a select branch or two. I have evolved. If I can do it, then there is hope for everyone else. Not going to try and cram my ideal agenda down anyone's throat, just drop a subtle hint every now and then.

There are more Pit and Pit-type dogs in the shelters of the south than you can keep count to. Something has to be done, educate the masses some how.

ADOPTABLE ANIMALS
The following are some of the animals available for adoption at Walton County Animal Control.  

Note on "Mandatory Hold" dates:  as soon as an animal's hold date expires, it is available for adoption, rescue, and sadly, for euthanasia. Therefore, it is crucial that animals be adopted or rescued as close to the hold expiration date as possible. We accept applications and rescues inquires during the hold period. The hold end date does not necessarily mean the animal will be put to sleep on that date, but there is no guarantee the animal will be held longer once the hold expires.

Friends of WCAC on Facebook is run by volunteers who watch waltonpets.net and make updates as they can. The shelter does not monitor the postings there, so always email the shelter directly for inquiries and applications.  Friends of WCAC is run by volunteers and Walton County does not have control over the postings
